This sweet face | Kirkland, WA photographer
Maybe this puts a whole new light on the term “Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed”
The Amazing Gager! |Queen Creek, AZ Photographer
This cute little boy (my nephew) is quite the entertainer. He loves Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and doesn’t go anywhere without his weapon. He often refers to himself as Donatello (or one of the other TMNT). As you can see, he tucks the weapon in his pants when not in use. He sleeps this way, eats this way, and even tries to go to the bathroom this way. ; ) This is exactly who he is at age 4!
Guest speaker| Queen Creek Photographer
I have an announcement (is this sounding serious?)… Lisa Heuer Photography has moved to Kirkland, WA…. yes, Lisa Heuer Photography has a new location. It isn’t like it scooted around the corner! It is a big move with many adventures ahead! I recently posted a little tidbit about my studio (that I love) and a perfect comment was made (thanks Jen!), “may it rest in peace.” Oh, should I insert cry here or later? It certainly is hard to make changes and leaving the studio behind was one of the hardest!
I have seen beauty before but the beauty here in WA is an everyday (blessing) thing. The greenery, the rain, the water, the wetlands, the lake, the bridges, the trees, etc. are all so different than the brown and the cactus in AZ. OK, don’t misread here (and certainly don’t put your own ending to my story) I love AZ and have only known AZ for many years but change is good, it feels good. I’m not sure what my song and dance will be when it is December and I haven’t seen the sunshine for far too long and then February rolls around and still no sunshine…? I will be keeping sessions in AZ (of course a good reason to visit) so if you are interested send me a note. I will be updating here and through email the dates of AZ sessions so stay tuned.
Ok, the reason for my post-I was asked to be a guest speaker to a group of AZ women photographers. What a privilege! It was an honor to share with these ladies as well as learn from them! I am so passionate about business and I love photography and I guess when you put those two together, I am one hot mess. ; ) I can talk shop for hours and probably days so I am truly humbled that they would want to hear from me. The ladies were fabulous! …and then I was featured on Jess Leonard’s photo site.
I really enjoyed sharing and learning! Thanks ladies for inviting me to share and join you for the afternoon!
So off to getting settled I go!
My Studio | Queen Creek Photographer
This is my humble abode-my home studio. I converted what was the living room and dining room, added a bit of a wall, some double doors and called it MY SPACE. I can think in here, I can sing in here, I can spread out in here, I can teach in here, I can create in here… I love to have samples on the wall, I love to display COLOR, I love signs that have meaning to me, and those door handles are truly the best part. There is a story behind those but I should save it for another day. This is my studio.
Let’s Dance | Queen Creek Photographer
THIS is why I love doing what I do… Can you even look at these without smiling? Sometimes goofy really is best. Remember my thoughts about being REAL? Can you argue or disagree with their cute little personalities? They were getting ready for a recital and these little ladies needed to have pictures in their costumes. Sometime (soon) the costumes will be put away, their bodies will grow to the next costume and these days will be a faint memory that only a mother could describe. It’s hard to imagine that these days will go by as some days feel long and full. But, its true. They grow up! And, want to know the worst part? Someday they will be “too cool” for this sort of goofiness. Their portraits at that time will take on new meaning and it will be just as wonderful but definitely different. In the meantime, let’s take advantage of the moments they share and give away!
Studio for sale
Just in case you have been looking… this is for sale in Superior, AZ- right where you want to be, I’m sure! Nevermind that the backyard is close to falling off a little edge-they have filled some holes with mortar, everything should be fine. : )
Dan | Queen Creek Photographer
Dan the man (well, closer to 14) was in my studio the other day. What a handsome fellow and quite funny! I was playing with lighting, using the window light and flash to fill. I am currently in love with this session because I adore this teenager look, his smile, love the soft background, the side lighting, and that blue tie. Is it always the last session you love most? Oh, and he chose one of my favorite colors-GREEN. Did he do that on purpose? ; )

Headshots | Queen Creek Photography
Another opportunity to do some real life grown-ups! Sasha has a heart of gold, I could see that the first time we met! Her devotion to family is incredible, I sorta wished she was in my family! ; ) Our goal was to capture her true self, her real smile and her relaxed approach to business and friendship. She made the session so simple and unique, I was able to get to know her and a little bit of her background. You know what was even more amazing? …Her ability to make a decision! WOW! I liked her goofiness, her light heartedness and her real-life-ed-ness. I know, my words are sometimes questionable but how else do you describe it?
Birthday #8 | Queen Creek Photography
This birthday is special for her, she has turned eight and will be getting baptized. I am a fan of the new color idea. (there I go again, displaying my love for color.) She had a darling white dress with white leggings and a bright turquoise cardigan and flower in her hair. So fun, so colorful, but yet room for the traditional white. Also, I like how times are a changing and now pictures for eight year olds are becoming more popular! ![]()
More from front page | Queen Creek Photography
This is my little one. She is missing the peace sign here. She loves to sneak that in pictures nowadays… She looks so calm and willing to cooperate. Do you have kids that hate to take pictures? I will consider these kids spoiled-lucky them they get somebody wanting to take pictures of them all the time, tons of their life documented. To them, it is a big pain in the neck. Here, we are in the studio but using the natural light from open windows. This front room has been a fabulous place to call “studio”. I can practice any time and I am lucky!
Another favorite with her! I may have already posted this but you can never have too much of smiling fun! These girls were perfect angels for about 5 minutes. Then, the photos were boring and going to the park sounded like a much better idea. Few of them could have continued the photoshoot for hours but my daughter led the negative crowd. She started pouting and got impatient. I am so glad that at least one was a keeper. I have since purchased a 40×30 print for her room. These girls have been dear friends to her since she was about 2 yrs old. In this picture, I again used the window light (as you can see to the far left) and used some flash. ![]()
