Shy? | Queen Creek Photography

Josie is in kindergarten and one would think that when looking at this picture, she is shy.  Ok, maybe having pictures taken brings out her shyness BUT I may beg to differ and let you know that she is one of 4 kids, very cute, full of energy and mostly not shy.  : )  I love her little smile, I love her bright eyes, I love her skin tone.  Studio photography can be hard (well, on me and the subject) due to lack of distractions and the pressure of standing there (or dancing, sitting, playing, etc.) while on a large roll of paper AND big ‘ol lights.  She and her siblings were fun-that is always my favorite part, seeing those true personalities shine!

PERSONALITY!!!!  There’s this boy, he is excited!  He turned 8 and made the decision to be baptized.  Jake is such a sweet boy (young man? not sure what to call an 8 yr old).  He came and was totally willing to get into this picture moment.  He has a contagious smile and he loves to sing and be on stage.  Time has passed since Jake was here but these pictures are still fun and more to demonstrate what I love… real moments, real feelings and real people!

Wow, dear friend, I didn’t mean to make this picture so big but you look so good!  You are so talented and so organized, and so kind, and such a great mother and so loving and so patient and so dear to me…  I could go on but maybe I have embarrassed you?  : ) 

She is Bored | Queen Creek Photography

This is another favorite of mine.  If you knew her you would know why this is so funny!  She is just in her own world, minding her own business… nevermind the fact that we were in the middle of pictures!  : )  So, I did this picture in my little studio with white seamless backdrop paper.  once everybody starts walking on that paper, it doesn’t seem white anymore but in this picture, you’d never know (unless you are seeing something I can’t).  She wanted to be in pictures just like this.  Her mom brought clothes to change but I always encourage moms to drop off so there is no extra pressure.  AND, sometimes kids behave differently for their parents then they do for me.  Anyhow, I just love what this says about her personality!

I saw these at Anthropologie and loved them.  But without a plan, this is a typcial problem for me-not the right size.  I love the color, the patterns, the fabrics.  I was going to hang them on the studio wall right next to some of my favorite photographs BUT they have to go back to the store since they just won’t work.  So, back on the hunt for larger letters, colorful letters, and preferably lower case letters!

This is Zoe.  Zoe is very independent.  Zoe always has a different plan.  Zoe likes to dance to the beat of her own drum.  Zoe is fun.  Zoe’s plan is her own plan. Zoe picks her clothes.  Zoe wants jewelry.  Zoe likes to be silly.  Zoe likes to flash the peace sign.  Zoe has a hard time standing still.  Zoe is missing a significant tooth.  Zoe runs the show.  Is Zoe familiar? 

I couldn’t imagine what could possibly come from this photo session.  Then, I put this together and smiled as I remembered how she liked to do her own thing-no instruction needed/wanted.  Many kids are camera shy and sit until you ask them to talk to you, play a game, etc. but for this show, I sat back and waited to see what would happen next.  Pure entertainment.  : )

OK, so I was having fun with this!  She was dying to play with the beads so I used a little bribery…  She was happy to play where I needed her to play as long as she could have the beads.  She tried so hard to get these beads on and then finally… success.  She stood in the mirror to observe and she was pleased!

Super cute kids, super cute mom.  We were trying white and black as the background…  What do you think?  Actually, I am now in love with a new background… it will be a surprise.  I am going to do a session with it in March. oooh, aren’t you so excited?  : )
